Motels, originally known as motor hotels, gained popularity in the 1920s with the advent of the United States Numbered Highway System. These establishments revolutionized travel, offering a mix of quick stopovers and vacation lodgings. They emphasized outdoor spaces over indoor amenities, featuring open-air courtyards, exterior corridors for easy parking, and central attractions like swimming pools, fire pits, and lawn games to encourage social interaction among guests.

Situated along Arlington’s Auto Aisle, Caravan Court Hotel provides a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
