Texas Tech University - Honors College

Lubbock, Texas

BOKA Powell was awarded the design of the Texas Tech University Honors College in 2009 having been selected from among many national design firms. The Honors College at Texas Tech plays an instrumental role in establishing the university as a Tier 1 institution.

Designed in the Spanish Renaissance style of the campus, the new Honors College that spans Doak and Weeks Halls utilizes a modern interpretation of the traditional housing model by linking the living-learning communities vertically, thus enlivening the common outdoor spaces.

Located at the front door of the campus, the facility includes a 450-bed residence hall with dining and classroom components, as well as a library, fitness center, commuter lounge, locker facility, media center, great hall and classrooms. The existing Doak Hall will be retrofitted to accommodate Honors College deans' offices, conference and seminar rooms, and additional office space.
